Only a school admin can pay for a school plan. Classroom is paid by card, monthly or yearly. The School plan is paid once a year, by card or by invoice. Prices are in US dollars, before sales tax, and cards are taken on our payment provider's secure page. School plans compared sets out what each plan includes.
Classes are opening soon, so school plans cannot be bought yet.
Pay for Classroom by card
- Open Plan and books and find "Move to Classroom", or open the school's Billing page and find "Choose a plan".
- Choose "Pay $9.99 a month" or "Pay $99.90 a year".
- Pay on the payment page. You come back to TaleTykes afterwards.
The plan changes as soon as the payment is confirmed, which usually takes a moment. If it has not changed yet, refresh the page.
Pay for the School plan by card
- On Billing, find "School, paid by card".
- Under "How many teachers", type a number from 5 to 500. The page shows what that comes to for a year, before sales tax.
- Choose "Pay by card", and pay on the payment page.
The plan starts as soon as the payment goes through. For more teachers than one order can hold, write to us.
Pay for the School plan by invoice
- On Billing, find "School, paid by invoice".
- Fill in "How many teachers", and under "Where the invoice goes", the address that pays it. That is usually the school office or the district's accounts team.
- Choose "Ask for an invoice".
The plan starts straight away, and the invoice is sent to that address within the hour. It is due 30 days after it is sent. Once it has been sent, the Billing page shows "An invoice is waiting" with its due date and a "Pay the invoice" link.
If an invoice is late
- Once the due date has passed, the Billing page shows "The invoice is overdue", with the date new books will stop.
- If the invoice is still unpaid 14 days after it was due, the page shows "New books have stopped". Students can still read every book the school already has, but nobody can make a new one.
- New books start again once the invoice is paid.
If a card payment fails, the Billing page shows "The last payment did not go through", and new books from the plan are paused until it does. Reading carries on as normal.
What to ask us to change
These are not on the site yet, so write to us and we will do them with you:
- adding teachers or seats to a School plan;
- changing plan, including from Classroom to School, or between monthly and yearly;
- stopping a paid plan while the school carries on using TaleTykes. A school that is stopping altogether closes itself on Data and privacy, which stops the plan with it.
Nothing changes until you say so. A school that already pays is not offered a second plan on the Billing page. When a paid plan ends, the school goes back to the Free plan, and if more new books were left than the Free plan gives in a month, the count comes down to that number.
Extra books
Extra book packs are listed with the Classroom and School plans, but there is no way to buy one from the school pages yet. If your classes run out of new books before the month ends, write to us. When a school does have books from a pack, they are used after the month's new books, and Plan and books says how many of the books left are from packs.
Sales tax
Prices do not include sales tax, which is added where we are registered to collect it. The page shows each total before sales tax.
