No chat, no assistant
Kids never type to an AI. They pick from pictures, tiles and menus. There’s no open text box anywhere in a child’s space.
No strangers
No messaging, comments, profiles, friends, sharing or public pages. A child’s writing is seen by their grown-ups and their teacher, and nobody else.
No ads or trackers
No ad networks, no analytics companies, no social plugins, no outside scripts at all. Our security policy blocks them on every page.
No tricks
No streaks, loot boxes, nagging timers, notifications to kids, or anything for a child to buy. The shelf closes when the day’s reading is done.
The books
Checked before a child can see them
AI writes a draft. Our own checker decides whether it’s readable and safe, and a book that fails is rewritten or thrown out.
Every word
In early readers, each word is matched, sound by sound, against what the child has learned. One word they can’t read sends the whole book back.
Every topic
Each stage has rules for what a story can contain. Sprout and Sapling books have no peril at all. No romance, weapons, horror, brands or personal details at any stage. You can also block topics for your child.
Every picture
We check the description before a picture is drawn, and the picture again after. No real people, no logos, no text in pictures.
Every edge case, by a person
A book that lands near a limit goes to a person, who reads the text and pictures side by side with the check results. Someone also reads a sample of approved books every day.

For grown-ups
Controls you can actually find
The grown-up gate
Settings, billing and anything that leaves the child’s space sit behind a hold-to-confirm gate with a question only a grown-up can answer. It stays open for five minutes.
Time limits
A daily limit and quiet hours for each child. When time’s up, the reader says so kindly and closes.
Report any book
Every book has a Report button for grown-ups. A person looks at a reported book within one business day and can take it off the shelf.
When something is wrong
What happens if a child’s writing worries us
Kids write with tiles, prompts and pictures, and older kids with a keyboard inside a set task. Everything they write is checked by keyword rules for signs that a child is unsafe, being hurt, or hurting someone else.
A match goes to a person on our team within the hour. We read it, and if it looks like a child is at risk we contact the parent, or the school’s named contact for a school account, the same day, with the text and what we think it means. We don’t decide what to do for you. We make sure you know.
The AI never reads a child’s writing for this, and never replies to a child about it. The writing coach is a tutor with a narrow job, no memory of what a child has told it, and no open conversation.
