Two or three of your readers can share one book. One child makes it in the book maker as usual and picks who else it is for, and the book appears on each of their shelves. It is one book, not a copy for each child.
Turning it on
Shared books are off until you turn them on, reader by reader. Go to Readers, choose your child, open "Settings" and find the card "What stories can include". Turn on "Let [name] share books with brothers and sisters" and press "Save". Do the same for each child who should be able to share.
A child can only share a book with a brother or sister who also has it on. If you do not see the switch, shared books are not available yet.
Making one
When at least two of your readers have it on, the book maker asks "Who is this book for?" just before "Make it". "Just me" is already chosen. Your child can add up to two brothers or sisters, so a book is for three readers at most.
Everyone on the book needs to read in the same language, because a book is written in one language.
Who the words are written for
The words are written for the youngest reader: their age group and, for early readers, their phonics phase. A book the younger child can sound out is one the older child can read, and the other way round is not true. The age group also decides how exciting or scary a story may get, so a shared book follows the youngest reader's limits there too.
What is left out
Every topic you turned off for any of the readers is left out of the book. Silly toilet jokes are only allowed if they are allowed for every reader. If "Let me read new books before" is on for any of them, the book waits for you before it goes on anybody's shelf.
A drawn hero can be in a shared book if it belongs to one of its readers.
What it uses from your plan
A shared book uses one book from your plan, the same as any other book.
Each child's own reading
Each child keeps their own place in the book, their own stickers and their own answers to the questions at the end. One child finishing it does not finish it for the other.
Series
A shared book can start a series, and that series is carried on only by books the same readers share. A shared book cannot carry on one child's own series, and one child cannot carry on a shared series by themselves. A weekly episode of a shared series is made for all of its readers, and it does not start if one of them no longer has sharing on.
Sharing it outside the family
A shared book can be offered to the library only if every reader on it is allowed to offer books. A code for somebody outside the family works the same way: every reader needs story codes on.
Taking it off one shelf
On the book's page, under "Who it is for", press "Take it off [name]'s shelf". The book stays on the other readers' shelves. Any stickers the child it was taken from earned for it stay in their collection. When only one reader is left it becomes their ordinary book, and you can put it away from its page like any other.
Removing a reader
If you remove a reader, their shared books stay with the brothers and sisters who are still on your account. The book goes only when every one of its readers has been removed, after the same thirty days as everything else.
A copy of your data
A shared book is included in a copy of your data under each child who reads it.
