Monthly or yearly
How monthly and yearly billing compare, and how to decide which fits your family.
Updated November 3, 2026 · 2 min read · For families
Yearly costs ten months' price, so you pay for ten months and get twelve. Monthly lets you pay as you go. Both give the same books, children and features.
The prices
| Monthly | Yearly | |
|---|---|---|
| Family | $14.99 | $149.00 |
| Family Plus | $24.99 | $249.00 |
Yearly is ten times the monthly price. That means two months cost nothing extra over the year.
What stays the same
- The number of children and new books each month
- Unlimited re-reads and the shared library
- Optional read-aloud coaching
- Printable activity sheets on Family Plus
Only how often you pay differs.
How to choose
- Think about how long you expect to read with TaleTykes. If you plan to keep going past ten months, yearly costs less.
- Think about cash flow. Yearly is one larger payment. Monthly is smaller ones.
- If you aren't sure yet, start with the trial. See How the trial works.
How to pick or switch
You pick monthly or yearly on the consent page, when the trial starts. To switch later:
- Open Billing from the menu at the top of your family page.
- On your current plan, press Switch to yearly (or Switch to monthly). Stripe's page opens.
- On Stripe's page, choose the other billing period, check the price and confirm.
- Use the link on Stripe's page to go back to Billing.
Switching to yearly starts right away, and Stripe shows what you pay for the change before you confirm. Switching to monthly starts at your next renewal. More in Change your plan.
