How the trial works

What the TaleTykes trial includes, how long it lasts, how the card check works, and what to do before it ends.

The trial lasts 7 days and includes 3 new books. After that, reading continues from the library. You pick your plan when the trial starts. It begins on the day the trial ends unless you cancel first.

How to start

Go to /start and enter your email.
Open the sign-in link we send you and press "Yes, sign me in".
Tell us what to call you.
Add your child.
On the consent page, make your choices and pick your plan under "Your plan after the 7-day trial".
Press I agree, check my card. Stripe's page opens.
Enter your card on Stripe's page. We charge $0.50 and refund it right away. The trial starts.
You come back to TaleTykes while we confirm the card. When it's confirmed, your child's sign-in page opens.

A family that already had a plan doesn't get a second trial, and a card that was already checked isn't checked again.

Before the trial ends

We email you three days before the trial ends. The email says the day it ends and the price your plan starts at.

Look at how your child has used the books.
Open Billing to see your plan and the day the trial ends.
To keep reading, do nothing. Your plan starts on that day.
To stop, press Cancel plan in Billing before the trial ends. See Cancel a plan.

Common questions

Is the trial a free plan?

No. There is no free plan. The trial is a short period to try the service.

Does re-reading use up the trial books?

Re-reading a book doesn't count as a new book.

Can I buy a book pack during the trial?

No. Book packs are for paid plans. See Book packs.

Can I use the trial for more than one child?

Add each child on the family page. Your plan sets how many children you can have. After the first child, your card isn't checked again.
