Give consent for your child

Your child can't sign in until you give consent. You do it on the consent page, titled "Your consent for" your child's name. It opens after you add a child, and from the Give your OK link on your family page. It takes a few minutes.

Steps

1. On your family page, press Give your OK. On the Children page, the same link is on your child's card. 2. Read the four short sections: what we collect, what we never do, who sees it, and keeping and deleting. Open any of them for more. 3. Under Your choices, choose your options: - Reading and lessons (required). The reading service itself. - Voice recording (optional). Your child reads aloud so you can hear progress. Kept 30 days. - Your child's name in stories (optional). Puts the name in books on your screen. The AI never sees it. 4. Under "Your plan after the 7-day trial", pick a plan, monthly or yearly. 5. Press I agree, check my card. 6. On Stripe's own page (not ours), enter your card. We charge $0.50 and refund it right away. Your 7-day trial starts, and the plan starts when the trial ends unless you cancel. 7. You come back to TaleTykes and see "Checking your card". When the check has gone through, your child's sign-in page opens.

If your card is already checked and your plan is on, for example for a second child, the page says "Your card is already checked. Nothing to pay." Press I agree and consent is granted at once.

What you'll see

Your child's status on the family page and the Children page tells you where things stand:

Change your choices later

1. Open Family & access from the menu.
2. Under Consent, each child has a row for each choice with its status.
3. Press Withdraw to switch a choice off, or Turn on to add voice or the name choice, then Turn it on.

Only a parent on the account can change consent. Withdrawing "Reading and lessons" signs your child out and deletes their data within 30 days.

If it doesn't work

• The card page won't load. Try again in a normal browser window, not a private one, and check that no blocker is hiding Stripe's page.
• You left Stripe's page without paying. Nothing was charged. Your choices are saved. Open the consent page again and try again.
• "Still confirming your card". You don't need to pay again. Press Check again in a minute, or Go to Family & access to see your child's status.
• The status still says "Needs your OK". Open the consent page again and check that you finished every step.

Common questions

Is my card charged? Only $0.50, and we refund it right away. Your bank may take a few days to show the refund. The charge confirms you are an adult. Nothing else is charged until the trial ends.

Can I say no to voice and name? Yes. Only "Reading and lessons" is required.
