AI and your child's information
What AI companies receive when TaleTykes makes books, and why your child's name is never part of it.
Updated November 2, 2026 · 2 min read
No child's name or personal details go to any AI company. Books are written from settings such as reading level and sounds to practice. Your child's name is added on their device when the book is shown.
How books are made
TaleTykes uses AI services to write stories and draw pictures. We give them settings about the book, not information about a child. Every book is also checked by our own code before a child sees it.
Who receives what
| Company | What they do | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Anthropic | Writes and checks stories | Story settings only. No name. |
| Draws pictures and makes read-aloud voices | Story text and picture descriptions |
The full list of companies, including hosting, database, email and payment services, is in the children's notice. That notice is the binding text.
Your child's name
If you turn on the name choice at consent, your child's name appears in stories. It is added on the device when the book is shown. It is not in the text we send to an AI company, and books in the shared library carry no child data.
Training
We never use your child's information to train AI models, ours or anyone else's.
What children can type
Children don't type to an AI. They use pictures, tiles and choices. Text that adults write is checked and turned into settings before it goes anywhere.
Common questions
Is my child talking to a chatbot?
No. Children pick pictures, tiles and choices.
Can I turn off the name in stories?
Yes. It is an optional choice. See Consent choices explained.
Do AI companies keep my child's data?
They don't receive it. The notice sets the limits for each company we use.
