How to start a TaleTykes trial with your email address, what each step asks for, and what happens next.

You start a trial at taletykes.com/start with your email address. We email you a sign-in link, and there is no password to make. The trial lasts 7 days and includes 3 new books.

Before you begin

  • You must be 18 or older. The start page says: "By continuing you agree to the Terms and confirm you are 18 or older."
  • Use an email address you can open right now. The sign-in link goes there.
  • You do not need your child with you for the first step.

Start the trial

  1. Go to the start page. You will see "Start your 7-day trial".
  2. Type your email address and press "Email me a link".
  3. Open the email with the subject "Your TaleTykes sign-in link". It comes from hello@mail.taletykes.com.
  4. Open the link. A page asks "Finish signing in?" and shows "You're signing in as" followed by your address.
  5. Press "Yes, sign me in".
  6. Answer "What should we call you?" with your name. It can be up to 40 characters. Saving this creates your family.
  7. Add your first child. See Add a child.

What you'll see

A row of steps runs across the top of the sign-up pages: Account, Your child, Consent and Sign-in. Use it to see how far along you are.

What happens after sign-up

Your child needs your consent before they can read. You give it on the consent page. Until then the child shows "Needs your OK" on your family page. The consent page is also where you pick your plan and do the card check that starts the trial. Read Give consent for what that page asks.

If it doesn't work

  • No email. See Sign-in email didn't arrive.
  • The page says the link has expired or was already used. Links last 5 minutes and work once. Ask for a new one. See Link expired or already used.
  • You started on one device and opened the email on another. That works. The link signs in the browser where you press the button.

Common questions

Do you ask for a card to start? Yes. The consent step includes a card check: a $0.50 charge that we refund right away. See Give consent.
