A class reading goal is one total for the whole class over a term: a number of minutes read, or a number of books finished. While the term runs, the class sees how much everybody has read together on its home screen. There is no figure for any one child, and there is no run of days to keep up, so a day nobody reads changes nothing but the total.
Set a goal
- Open the class from Your classes and choose the Progress tab.
- Under "Class reading goal", choose minutes read or books finished, and type how many for the whole class.
- Choose the first and last days of the term, then "Set the goal".
A class has one goal at a time. Setting a new one replaces it, and "Take the goal away" removes it from the class home.
What the class sees
From the first day of term to the last, the class home shows "Our class goal", how much the class has read together, the goal, and a bar. It never says how much is left, how many days remain, or anything about one child, and it shows no dates. Once the class reaches the goal it says so. When the term ends, the goal is no longer shown, whether or not it was reached.
Your Progress tab shows the same total, and after the term it says how the goal ended.
How it is counted
The total is worked out each time it is shown, from the reading of the students in the class now, over the days of the term so far. A student who leaves the class stops counting towards it. Nothing extra is stored about anybody.
