You can let up to 4 other grown-ups follow your readers, for example a co-parent, a grandparent or a childminder. Each of them uses a TaleTykes account of their own, so nobody needs your password, and you can take the access back at any time. For each person you choose whether they can only look, or whether they can also sign your readers in on a device of their own.
What a shared grown-up can do
When you invite somebody, the two choices are labelled "Look at your readers" and "Look, and sign readers in on their device". After the invitation has gone, the same two choices appear as "Can look" and "Can look and sign readers in". We call a person with the second choice a guardian.

A guardian gets no say over your account. The only extra is the sign-in, and it works only on a device that the guardian set up with their own account. What a shared grown-up sees describes their pages in more detail.
Invite somebody
- Go to Settings > Sharing with other grown-ups.
- Under "Invite somebody", type the person's address in "Their email address".
- Under "What they can do", choose "Look at your readers" or "Look, and sign readers in on their device".
- Press "Send the invitation".
We email them a link, and the link works for 7 days. They need to accept it while signed in to an account of their own, which Accept an invitation to read along walks through.
While an invitation is waiting, your list shows "An invitation sent on" and the date, with a label saying "Waiting, until" the day it runs out. In its last two days it also appears under "Needs your attention" on your Home page. Once the person accepts, the list shows their email address and "Accepted". An invitation nobody accepted in time shows "Ran out on" and its date.
The limit of 4 counts the people who have accepted and the invitations still waiting, but not the ones that ran out. When you reach it, the page tells you to remove somebody before adding another.
Change what somebody can do
Next to each person or waiting invitation there is a menu with "Can look" and "Can look and sign readers in". Choose the other option, and the change takes effect at once.
If you move a guardian to "Can look", any device they set up stops signing your readers in the next time it is used, and a reader who is signed in on it is signed out.
Stop sharing or withdraw an invitation
- Go to Settings > Sharing with other grown-ups.
- Press "Remove" next to a person who has accepted, or "Withdraw" next to an invitation that has not been accepted.
- Confirm with "Stop sharing" or "Withdraw it".
When you stop sharing, the person no longer sees your readers or their books, and any device they set up stops signing your readers in the next time it is used. A withdrawn invitation's link stops working. Either way, you can invite the same person again later. An invitation cannot be sent a second time, so if somebody lost the email, withdraw it and send a new one.
The other grown-up can also leave on their own from their settings. Either way, it is recorded.
