Teacher accounts
Start a classroom trial, turn on two-step sign-in, pick monthly or yearly, then make a class and add students.

A teacher account comes with the Classroom plan: one class of up to 36 students for $24.90 a month or $249.00 a year. The first 28 days are free. If your school or district has a contract with us, you don't pay; your school sets you up.
- Open Start a classroom trial and pick Monthly or Yearly.
- Enter your school email and press Send my link.
- Open the email and press the link. See Sign in with an email link.
- Set up two-step sign-in. Teacher accounts need it because they can see children's work.
- On Plan, add a card. Nothing is charged until the 28-day trial ends, and you can cancel before then.
Monthly or yearly
You can switch between monthly and yearly on Plan. Yearly costs the same as ten months.
Set up two-step
- Open an authenticator app on your phone.
- Scan the QR code, or type the key into the app.
- Enter the 6-digit code and press Turn on.
- Save your backup codes. They are shown once. "Save them now; we can't show them again."
You must have signed in within the last 10 minutes to change sign-in settings. See Two-step sign-in.
What you see after
Your teaching page, `/teach`, lists your classes and has a form to make a new one. The first class also asks for your school's name. Inside a class you'll find:
- Class overview: each student against this unit's skills, reading days and neutral flags such as "needs fluency check".
- Groups: students grouped by the next skill they're working on.
- Assignments: lessons, books or a quick check for the class or a group, with a due date and an option to keep new lessons at the class's pace.
- Progress monitoring and tiers: weekly read-aloud checks against an aim line for Tier 2 and 3 students. Tiers change only when you change them.
- Families: letters home with one-time codes (English and Spanish), requests to confirm, and class news.
- Roster and pacing: paste a roster, trust a class device, set the class's weekly goal, and download the class report.
Signed-out time
| Account | Signed out after idle | Longest session |
|---|---|---|
| Teacher | 12 hours | 30 days |
You are asked for a two-step code once each time you sign in on a device. A passkey counts as two-step already. See Why was I signed out.
Rosters and gradebooks
- Clever and ClassLink rosters are set up by your district with us.
- Each class can send skill scores to Google Classroom or an LMS course. Open the class, then LMS.
Common questions
Can I use my personal email?
Use the address you want on the account. We email it a link, so it must be one you can open.
Does a teacher account include a family plan?
No. The Classroom plan and family plans are separate.
What happens if my plan ends?
For 30 days after it ends you can still download each class’s reports from its Reports page. After that we delete your students’ records, as the School terms say. Restart from Plan before then to keep everything. If your school or district has an agreement with us, nothing is deleted.
I lost my authenticator app.
Use a backup code, or contact us at support@taletykes.com.
