You can cancel your plan at any time from Plan and books. Your plan keeps running to the end of the period you have already paid for, and every book your children made stays on their shelves.
How to cancel
- Open Plan and books. You can also get there from Settings > "Plan and books".
- Press "Manage your plan". If a payment has not gone through, or your card expires soon, the same button reads "Update your card".
- Our payment provider's page opens. Choose to cancel your plan and confirm it. It may ask why you are leaving.
- Return to Plan and books. The top card now says "It ends on" with the date, followed by "and will not renew. You keep every book that was made."
Only the grown-up who owns the account can do this. Grown-ups you share your family with cannot see or change your plan.
If "Manage your plan" is not on the page, you have no plan that you pay for by card. A plan paid by a group, or given by us, costs you nothing and is covered in Plans paid by a group, or given by us.
When your plan stops
Canceling takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for, which is the date your plan would otherwise have renewed: a month after the last payment on a monthly plan, or a year after it on a yearly plan. Until that date nothing changes. Your monthly books still arrive, and your children keep reading and making books.
While your plan is set to end, you cannot add an extra reader to it. In the last two weeks, your Home page also shows "Your plan ends on" with the date.
On the day it ends, your plan stops and we email you "Your plan has ended".
What you keep and what stops

Nothing is deleted when a plan ends. The "Your plan has ended" email says the same: every book is still in the library, and any books you bought outright are still yours to spend.
Canceling during the free trial
If you cancel while you are still on your free days, nothing is charged. Your plan ends when the free days would have ended, and your children can use the trial books until then. Until that day, the top card on Plan and books goes on saying "It is free until" with the date, rather than "It ends on".

Paying for the rest of a period
Canceling does not refund the time left in your current period, because your plan carries on until the end of it. The terms say the same: "Your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for." If you think you are owed something, Refunds explains how to ask.
Starting again later
You can choose a plan again from the "Plans" card on Plan and books whenever you like. Because the free trial is only for a family's first plan, a new plan is paid for from its first day. Your children's books, their settings and any extra books you have are all still there when you come back.
Once your plan has ended, no box says "Your plan" any more. All four buttons can be pressed, so the plan you had, paid the way you paid for it, is there to choose again. Until it ends, the plan you are still on stays marked and its button stays quiet.
