My child isn't on "Who is reading?"
Why a child may be missing from the reading page, and what to check in consent, the trusted browser and cookies.
Updated November 3, 2026 · 2 min read · For families
"Who is reading?" lists only children in that family whose consent has been granted, on a browser you have trusted. If your child is missing, check consent first, then the browser.
Check consent
- Sign in and open your family page.
- Look at your child's card. The status is "Needs your OK" until consent is granted.
- If it says "Needs your OK", press Give your OK and finish the page, including the card check. See Give consent.
Check the browser
The reading page only works on a browser you have trusted.
- Sign in as yourself on the device.
- Open Children and choose Sign-in and devices on your child's card.
- Under "Trust this device for" your child's name, press Trust this device.
- Open "Who is reading?" again from the Open the reading space button on your family page.
A trusted browser lasts 180 days. Clearing cookies or using a private window removes it. See Private browsing and cookies.
Check the family
- Children appear only under the family they belong to. A device trusted by a different family shows that family's children.
- Check that you added the child on the right account, with the right email address.
If it doesn't work
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Child shows "Needs your OK" | Finish consent. |
| Child shows "Ready to read" but is not listed | Trust the browser again, then reload. |
| Page is empty | Make sure you are using a normal window, with cookies on. |
| Child appears but is locked | See Child is locked out. |
If none of these help, write to support@taletykes.com with your child's nickname and the browser you are using.
Common questions
Do I add the child again? No. They already exist on your family page. Fix consent or trust instead.
Can I see "Who is reading?" before I trust a browser? No. The page says "This device isn't set up for reading yet". Press Trust this device first.
