Sign out
How to sign out of your adult account, and the difference between signing out and a child's "Not me".
Updated November 2, 2026 · 2 min read
Sign out when you are done on a shared or public computer. Signing out ends your adult session in that browser. Your children's trusted-device setting stays as it is.
Steps
- Open the account menu on any signed-in page.
- Choose sign out.
- You return to the sign-in page.
To get back in, ask for a new email link or code, or use a passkey.
What signing out does
- Ends your adult session in this browser.
- Does not sign you out of other browsers or devices.
- Does not delete anything in your account.
Children and "Not me"
A child signs themselves out by pressing "Not me". That ends the child's session only, not yours. Only one child can be signed in on a device at a time. See How long children stay signed in.
If a child is signed in and you open a grown-up page, you are sent to the grown-up check first. Passing it signs the child out and opens the family page. See The grown-up check.
If it doesn't work
- You can't find the sign out option. Look in the account menu at the top of the page. If you were already signed out, you will see the sign-in page.
- You still seem signed in on another device. Sign out on that device too. Sessions end separately.
- You are signed out when you didn't ask to be. See Why was I signed out?
Common questions
I used a library computer. What now? Sign out and close the browser. If you trusted that browser for reading, clear its cookies too. Better, don't trust a browser on a public computer.
Will signing out stop my trial? No. Your plan and trial are not affected.
